What are the law requirements when law enforcement is requesting entry into a unit? We have requested and received a search warrant , but need to know the next steps regarding our responsibility.

If they have brought you a search warrant your next step is to allow them entrance. They will sometimes ask you cut the lock, so they don't damage your hatch, other times they will cut it.

Most law enforcement agencies, if they are worried about a sound investigation will actually tell you not to cut the lock until they get the warrant; they don't want to compromise the investigation.

Further, if you have reason to believe illegal activity is happening in a particular unit, you can cut the lock according to point 14 in the NCSSA lease. It would fall under one of two points there A. Hazardous or nuisance condition or B. inspections by governmental authorities. It goes on to say you can remedy the issue with notice and at lessors expense.
