Vehicle storage

Stor-Safe - Aaron Hamilton

When storing a vehicle at a self-storage facility, is it required for the driver to have an active license, and must the vehicle be drive-able? Do the standards change with indoor vs outdoor storage?

Thank you,

Aaron

If you are using the NCSSA sanctioned lease, it would be near impossible to store a vehicle indoors because of the oil, gas etc associated with a vehicle. You neither have to have a DL or the vehicle be drivable.

IMO I wouldn't rent to someone like the above described. Sooner of later your reputaion for storing such will get out and it will be a huge headache.

We require a valid DL as well as insurance and registration on file. Should you not have the above, out policy is not to rent.

We also require the vehicle to be in running condition, proof of insurance and registration. The headache of not following these guidelines is huge and it can be a very timely and costly event to get rid of vehicles.

Aaron, our policy is not to rent vehicle space because of the hassle if they skip town on you. We have found it is not worth the headache! Sooner or later somebody will abandon a car and you’ll be stuck with disposing of it. Good luck!!
